Bundesliga Update (24 October, 2010)

Bundesliga round-up
Ivanschitz: Scores for Mainz

Mainz returned to the top of the table with a 1-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen, while Dortmund drew 1-1 with Hoffenheim and Stuttgart beat St Pauli 2-0.

Substitute Andreas Ivanschitz scored the 70th minute winner for Mainz against Leverkusen just two minutes after coming off the bench to earn his side their eighth win in nine games this season and send them two points clear of Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund, meanwhile, needed a free-kick three minutes into injury time from Antonio da Silva to snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Hoffenheim as their seven-game winning streak came to an end. Demba Ba put Hoffenheim ahead in the ninth minute before Dortmund were denied an equaliser six minutes later when Nuri Sahin was ordered to re-take a penalty and he missed at the second attempt. The visitors had Sejad Salihovic sent off just seconds after the final whistle.

Elsewhere, Stuttgart moved off the foot of the table with a much-needed 2-0 win at home to St Pauli. Georg Niedermaier put Jens Keller's side ahead in the 19th minute and Zdravko Kuzmanovic made the points safe 15 minutes from time. Stuttgart's win saw Cologne, who sacked manager Zvonimir Soldo earlier in the day, slip to the foot of the standings.
